Ghia, Cooley, where your host,

7

:

but we'd rather you consider us

more like your hiking buddies.

8

:

Following Christ.

9

:

We traverse a pass through the wilderness.

10

:

Share the joys and wonders.

11

:

We discover along the way.

12

:

And celebrate the small

steps we take each day.

13

:

So will you shake the dust

off those hiking boots?

14

:

Pick up your packs.

15

:

And join us on the trail.

16

:

And incredible journey awaits us.

17

:

Let's go.

18

:

Sonny Bonanni today is day 400.

19

:

I've been numbering the day

nd,:

20

:

when we were called on a mission

and set apart from our world and

21

:

life in Utah and traveled to what is

called KwaZulu natal in South Africa.

22

:

Here in this corner of the vineyard

and told to go to work and serve with

23

:

all our heart, my mind and strength.

24

:

So here we are.

25

:

I honestly didn't think we'd

make it this far 400 days.

26

:

Only 300 more days ago.

27

:

My dear friends.

28

:

Where are you working today?

29

:

In his kingdom?

30

:

It doesn't have to be on

the other side of the world.

31

:

There's so much just

outside your front door.

32

:

So step out.

33

:

Ask the Lord to direct you to those

who need you Maybe you wonder, as

34

:

I do some days, how do we do that?

35

:

Or how can we be a good cheer when we

find our hearts and smiles upside down?

36

:

And our feet hurt and our legs

are weary from the journey.

37

:

Don't fear, the Savior's promise

to walk and work beside us.

38

:

Hopefully today I can share what

I've discovered along the way

39

:

that will help you on the trail.

40

:

For today's episode.

41

:

I want you to think back.

42

:

On a moment when you experienced wonder.

43

:

When you stood in the presence of

something so big and awe inspiring.

44

:

That may be you wept.

45

:

You were so moved by the wonder

and grandeur of God or the moment

46

:

or the scene or the experience.

47

:

Some of my wonders.

48

:

I remember a moment when backpacking

the Sierra mountains in California.

49

:

And reaching a glacier fed lake

surrounded by these wild flowers.

50

:

You could hear the birds singing.

51

:

Oh, Beautiful colors in the sky.

52

:

It was wonder field.

53

:

My soul.

54

:

Sword with joy.

55

:

How great thou art.

56

:

I remember a time watching a sunset.

57

:

On a beach and the clouds were just

magnificent as a storm rolled in.

58

:

I felt small.

59

:

And weak yet.

60

:

So loved Well, Eric and

I just returned home.

61

:

Promote adventure.

62

:

Venture.

63

:

From seeing the Victoria

falls in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

64

:

It is one of the seven

natural wonders of the world.

65

:

This got me to pondering on this word.

66

:

Wonder.

67

:

And what makes it one of the seven

natural wonders of the world?

68

:

First, let me share my experience there.

69

:

This is breathtaking.

70

:

This waterfall.

71

:

So huge.

72

:

You can't.

73

:

Take it all in, in one little.

74

:

Window.

75

:

You have to travel to.

76

:

15 little view sites on the Zimbabwe side.

77

:

And then same with those Ambius side,

separate little windows of viewing this.

78

:

Spectacular.

79

:

Waterfall.

80

:

The amount of water, the mist

is like you're standing in

81

:

a beautiful, warm rainstorm.

82

:

And.

83

:

The sound.

84

:

The sound of the.

85

:

Roaring waters.

86

:

Uh, it was breathtaking.

87

:

I did feel.

88

:

Small, but yet.

89

:

Wonder field.

90

:

With, um, God's love.

91

:

the word wonder.

92

:

As a noun is a feeling of

surprised mingled with admiration.

93

:

Caused by something beautiful.

94

:

Unexpected unfamiliar.

95

:

And inexplicable.

96

:

That right there sums up.

97

:

What I experienced.

98

:

The word wonder is similar

to ah, An admiration.

99

:

The verb wonder.

100

:

Is to be curious to know something.

101

:

Which is similar to pondering.

102

:

To ask oneself.

103

:

And it's even defined as to feel doubt.

104

:

The Hebrew word for wonder is PLA.

105

:

And it means being wonder

field To have wonder is to be

106

:

overcome with awe and amazement.

107

:

So let's go back to this Victoria falls.

108

:

Dr.

109

:

Livingston.

110

:

A missionary.

111

:

Was the first.

112

:

White man from Europe to write

and tell the people of Europe.

113

:

About the waterfall.

114

:

He was a physician and missionary

from Scotland that in the total,

115

:

he served in Africa for 30 years.

116

:

Each his first encounter of

seeing the natural wonder.

117

:

Dr.

118

:

Livingston beautifully described

in what he saw in his diaries.

119

:

Quote, no one can imagine the beauty.

120

:

At the view from anything

witnessed in England.

121

:

It had never been seen

before by European eyes.

122

:

But seen so lovely must have been

gazed upon by angels in their flight.

123

:

He names the waterfall.

124

:

after queen Victoria of England,

The natives called the falls.

125

:

Mossi.

126

:

Una.

127

:

Ooh, I hope I said that.

128

:

Right.

129

:

Which translated means

smoke that thunders.

130

:

That describes it pretty

well smoke that thunders

131

:

The natives people of Zimbabwe

and Zambia, their history cords,

132

:

The people that lived around Mossi.

133

:

Una.

134

:

We're odd by the

magnificence of the falls.

135

:

They revered it as a religious shrine.

136

:

A place of worship.

137

:

and as such.

138

:

A sacred place.

139

:

Yeti X-11: Yeah, and I would agree.

140

:

It feels.

141

:

Like a sacred place.

142

:

Yeti X: I started off having you think

back on a time you were wonder field.

143

:

What about the wonders all around you?

144

:

I asked Eric this to share with

me times he experienced wonder

145

:

And it's funny how ours lined up.

146

:

So maybe they'll line

up with yours as well.

147

:

Kneeling across the alter

when we were married.

148

:

Holy place holding hands.

149

:

And just looking into each other's eyes.

150

:

And being sealed for

time and all eternity.

151

:

And this is, this one is a biggie.

152

:

Giving birth.

153

:

Becoming a mother.

154

:

Holding each one of our

babies for the first time.

155

:

Looking into their little faces.

156

:

And wondering.

157

:

Who they are.

158

:

Where they've come from.

159

:

And the life ahead of them.

160

:

Ah, such a experience of wonder.

161

:

And then experiencing the death.

162

:

Have a loved one or mom or dad?

163

:

Her grandma.

164

:

And.

165

:

Holding their hands.

166

:

And knowing that their

spirit was no longer there.

167

:

And also that piece.

168

:

That wonderful piece of knowing

that it wasn't goodbye forever.

169

:

So.

170

:

How do you witness God's love for you?

171

:

Where have you seen his marvelous works?

172

:

And wonder.

173

:

Yeti X-12: So, let me go back.

174

:

To there we were.

175

:

Witnessing the marvelous.

176

:

Grand jury of Victoria falls.

177

:

And of course we're not

experiencing this just on our own.

178

:

There were people around us.

179

:

And.

180

:

As I had mentioned there were

different viewing stations.

181

:

And as we walking along, there are

butterflies fluttering around us

182

:

and you're walking through this.

183

:

Magnificent mist.

184

:

It feels like a warm rain.

185

:

And you're just breathing in

this fresh air and the sky.

186

:

So blue, above and.

187

:

That just the smells of the rain forest.

188

:

Just like I said, it just

felt like a sacred space.

189

:

Yeti X-6: Ahead of us.

190

:

There was a group, Of women.

191

:

That we're so busy and distracted.

192

:

Taking selfies.

193

:

They would have their umbrellas

and they'd be twirling.

194

:

They'd be jumping, holding

their arms up in the air.

195

:

Always with their back.

196

:

To the waterfall.

197

:

Yeti X: And I wondered.

198

:

Are you missing it?

199

:

I didn't even feel like they

were looking at the waterfall.

200

:

They were posing I wasn't even sure

that they experienced the wonder that

201

:

I was feeling because they were so

distracted with selfies Now the opposite.

202

:

Of wonder is disinterest.

203

:

Apathy

204

:

in attention.

205

:

. Disregard.

206

:

And.

207

:

Overlook.

208

:

To be standing.

209

:

At an overlook.

210

:

But overlooking the wonder

and the majesty of the moment.

211

:

I asked myself as I

watched those young women.

212

:

What wonders in life am I missing?

213

:

What about you?

214

:

Are you missing out on

viewing the wonders of God?

215

:

And I don't mean traveling to one of

the seven natural wonders, like the

216

:

grand canyon or viewing the Rora.

217

:

Borealis.

218

:

Yeti X-1: But what life wonders?

219

:

That are just all around you.

220

:

Yeti X-13: In the 2020.

221

:

General conference

address from our prophet.

222

:

Russell M.

223

:

Nelson.

224

:

Titled hear him.

225

:

He says, quote, I love this.

226

:

We live in the day that our

forefathers have waited with anxious.

227

:

expectation.

228

:

We have front row seats to witness live.

229

:

with the prophet ne.

230

:

I saw only in vision.

231

:

That the power of the lamb of God.

232

:

Would descend upon the

covenant people, of the Lord.

233

:

You and me who are scattered

upon all the face of the earth.

234

:

And they were armed with righteousness

and with the power of God in great glory,

235

:

you, my brothers and sisters.

236

:

are among those men, women and

children who need, if I saw.

237

:

Think of that.

238

:

And

239

:

quote.

240

:

Our profits asked us to think about that.

241

:

We have front row seats.

242

:

To what Neefa saw envision.

243

:

Of this latter days.

244

:

Yeti X-3: What about the

wonder of the atonement?

245

:

Of Jesus Christ, our savior and

Redeemer to stand in awe and

246

:

wonder at his willingness to be the

sacrificial lamb to take upon himself.

247

:

My sins.

248

:

And all our sorrows,

afflictions and pains.

249

:

So he can heal us and redeem us.

250

:

To be able to return back home again.

251

:

He broke the bands of death.

252

:

That's pretty magnificent.

253

:

Remember the definition of wonder or PLA.

254

:

A feeling of surprise.

255

:

Mingled with admiration.

256

:

Caused by something beautiful,

unexpected, unfamiliar, and inexplicable.

257

:

To me.

258

:

That defines the

atonement of Jesus Christ.

259

:

I hope when you take

the sacrament next time.

260

:

The bread and the water,

you are wonder field.

261

:

And that your soul is overcome.

262

:

Just like standing and viewing a

grand waterfall or the ocean or.

263

:

View from the mountaintop.

264

:

That you are filled with amazement

for such love for you personally.

265

:

Yeti X-2: Okay.

266

:

What about this wonder?

267

:

Of being you.

268

:

The wonder of you.

269

:

Uh, daughter or son of God, the father and

God, the mother created in their images.

270

:

So in Psalms 1 39, 13 to 14.

271

:

For you, God formed my inner most being,

you wove me together in my mother's womb.

272

:

I praise thee because I am fearfully.

273

:

And wonderfully made.

274

:

Wonderful.

275

:

Are your works and my

soul knows it very well.

276

:

And that beautiful.

277

:

You were knitted together

in your mother's womb.

278

:

Wonderfully.

279

:

Yeti X-7: Please don't miss.

280

:

Please don't miss the wonder.

281

:

Have you.

282

:

Of being you.

283

:

There are things that you were sent here.

284

:

To do that only you can do.

285

:

I know at times we get discouraged.

286

:

But you have to see.

287

:

Take time.

288

:

Ponder.

289

:

Look deep inside.

290

:

There is a beautiful.

291

:

Fearfully is that what the word he used?

292

:

Made.

293

:

Wonderfully made.

294

:

Son or daughter of God.

295

:

Don't miss it.

296

:

Don't miss it because of the lies.

297

:

Of the world, the lies of the adversary.

298

:

Believe That you.

299

:

Our wonderful.

300

:

And God loves you for who you are.

301

:

The last wonder I want us to explore

is the restoration of the gospel

302

:

of Jesus Christ His marvelous

work and wonder that's happening

303

:

today, all around the world.

304

:

His kingdom is being built.

305

:

Are you witnessing it or missing it?

306

:

Yeti X-4: And we read in second Neefa.

307

:

25 17 and the Lord will

set his hand again.

308

:

The second time to restore his people.

309

:

From their lost and fallen state.

310

:

Wherefore, he will proceed

to do a marvelous work.

311

:

And a wonder.

312

:

Among the children of man.

313

:

I want to take you back to

the:

314

:

I had this thought the other day.

315

:

Um, when we heard that the Olympics

were coming to Utah, we were not happy.

316

:

Like most of my friends were.

317

:

And I did not sign up.

318

:

To participate in it at all.

319

:

We thought we're going

to take off to Hawaii.

320

:

Ran out our house and just not be around.

321

:

Now don't get me wrong.

322

:

I love the Olympics.

323

:

I just don't like crowds.

324

:

So.

325

:

We didn't go to Hawaii.

326

:

And we didn't ran out our house and

we didn't participate in the Olympics.

327

:

Now my friends that volunteered.

328

:

Have memories of such a wonderful time.

329

:

And such grand experiences

that I missed out on.

330

:

And this thought came to my

mind When I was thinking about.

331

:

Our mission.

332

:

And the work of gathering Israel.

333

:

And these.

334

:

Last days of preparing our hearts for

the coming of the savior, something

335

:

much bigger than the Olympics.

336

:

And I thought by dang this

time, I am not going to miss it.

337

:

I'm not going to be twirling

around taking selfies.

338

:

I want to participate and I want

to witness and take it all in.

339

:

I want to talk about this

definition of wonder being doubt.

340

:

Wonder as a verb is to be

curious to know something.

341

:

Similar to pondering.

342

:

To ask oneself and to even feel doubt.

343

:

Maybe you wonder if God exists.

344

:

Or wonder if Joseph Smith really

saw God, the father Jesus Christ.

345

:

Maybe you wonder if your life has purpose.

346

:

Maybe you wonder why you were born into

the circumstances you were born into.

347

:

I believe there's odd in

that kind of wondering.

348

:

In that kind of doubting and asking.

349

:

I wonder if you were to add Jesus.

350

:

Prey.

351

:

want to share with you.

352

:

Uh, quote from.

353

:

Elder Horst.

354

:

It says, I wonder if Jesus were to choose

a place where you and he could meet.

355

:

A private place where you would be

able to have a singular focus on him.

356

:

Might he choose your unique

place of personal suffering?

357

:

A place of your deepest need

where no one else can go.

358

:

Somewhere so lonely that you must

feel truly to be all alone, but

359

:

you aren't quite a place to which

perhaps only he has traveled.

360

:

But actually has already prepared

to meet you there when you arrive.

361

:

If you were waiting for him to come.

362

:

Might he already be

there and within reach.

363

:

Where will your pondering.

364

:

And curiosity to know the truth.

365

:

Take you.

366

:

I believe if you pray

as NEEF, I did to know.

367

:

That you will be taken to

the top of the mountain.

368

:

So to speak as the prophet

NEEF, I was and told to look.

369

:

Look witnessed the wonder all around you.

370

:

Yeti X-8: I know that he wants you.

371

:

To take.

372

:

Those doubts.

373

:

That desire, that curiosity

to know something to him.

374

:

He is waiting.

375

:

He is waiting my friends.

376

:

Yeti X-9: to show you the wonders and

to give you the answers that you desire.

377

:

Yeti X-4: I'm going to

close with this scripture

378

:

This is indoctrine covenants 1 28 23.

379

:

Let the mountain shout for joy.

380

:

And all you valleys cry aloud.

381

:

And all the seas and dry lands tell

the wonders of your eternal king.

382

:

And do you rivers and Brooks and

reels flow down with gladness.

383

:

Let the woods and the trees

and the field praise the Lord.

384

:

And E solid rocks, weep for joy.

385

:

And let the sun, the moon and the

morning starts seeing together.

386

:

And let all the sense of God.

387

:

Shout for joy.

388

:

And let the eternal creations

declare his name forever.

389

:

And ever.

390

:

And again, I say how glorious.

391

:

How wonderful is the voice we hear

from heaven proclaiming in our ears.

392

:

Ooh.

393

:

I love the imagery of that scripture.

394

:

Of mountains shouting for joy.

395

:

And the trees and the Brooks.

396

:

With gladness.

397

:

Exclaiming the wonders and the glory.

398

:

I've already eternal king.

399

:

To me.

400

:

That scripture describes a

marvelous wonders of life.

401

:

That you and I are so

blessed to be witnessing.

402

:

Walking upon this earth.

403

:

I want to leave you with an invitation.

404

:

To look.

405

:

Participate in the wonders happening

around and through an, in you.

406

:

You were created wonderfully.

407

:

You are on inspiring.

408

:

Don't miss out on it.

409

:

We have front row seats.

410

:

Don't close off your heart.

411

:

To wonder what distractions

or apathy or by overlooking.

412

:

What is right before you.

413

:

You don't need to travel

to Victoria falls.

About the Podcast

Creative Spiritual Journey
one small, deliberate step at a time
We are all on a journey—a journey home to our heavenly parents. Any experienced traveler knows there are days you laugh and days you cry.

We aren’t here to tell you how to live—we are here to share how we live—how we survive, thrive, and even find joy!

The journey gets messy with rainstorms and sleepless flights but the hard times—the miserable times—those make the best stories.

And the vistas, the sunsets, the little birds outside the window—those are the reminders that God is in the details, he is aware of us, he has trod the path before.

The Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast is hosted by Judy and Ghia Cooley—two sisters in their wisdom years—who love the savior and are dedicated to making this journey one small, deliberate step at a time.
