Small Step: Celebrate!

We heard about the northern lights on display in the Northern USA and our family sent pictures that were amazing! The ancient people of the north believed it was the spirits of their deceased family and friends visiting. And when it shone brightly it was because they were happy, dancing, playing games and riding horses- they were celebrating!

Do you take the time to celebrate the small daily small steps forward?

Speaker:

So bona my friends, welcome to the

creative, spiritual journey podcast.

2

:

I'm Judy Cooley.

3

:

I'm your host for small steps where I

share with you small steps to help you

4

:

move forward in this journey of life.

5

:

With Christ by your side.

6

:

Today, small step celebrate.

7

:

Do you celebrate?

8

:

Do you take the time to celebrate?

9

:

Not just the big, an obvious

days and accomplishments, but

10

:

what about those small steps?

11

:

Those tiny little wins.

12

:

So I'll tell you lately.

13

:

We've been doing a lot of

celebrating here in our mission.

14

:

I celebrated my 60th birthday.

15

:

We just celebrated our 40th

wedding anniversary and had

16

:

an amazing celebration trip.

17

:

It was mother's day.

18

:

We celebrated Eric's birthday yesterday.

19

:

And one beautiful celebration

is who we just welcomed our 12th

20

:

grandchild, a grandson Into our family.

21

:

And these have been beautiful.

22

:

celebrations.

23

:

I've also received some texts

with some amazing pictures.

24

:

Of the Aurora Borealis,

the Northern lights.

25

:

Have been.

26

:

On display.

27

:

At my home in Utah, of course,

because this is something I've

28

:

wanted to see all my life.

29

:

And here I am down in the

Southern hemisphere, South Africa.

30

:

So the Northern lights, I'm not going

to bore you with the scientific.

31

:

Reason why there are the Northern

lights or where they got their name.

32

:

But what I want to talk about

is the native American Indians,

33

:

the ancient people What they

thought the Northern lights were.

34

:

They believed that the lights were

the spirits of their departed friends

35

:

and family dancing in the sky.

36

:

And when they shone brightly, it meant

that their deceased family and friends.

37

:

We're very happy.

38

:

They were celebrating.

39

:

They were dancing, playing games,

riding horses, and having fun.

40

:

I believe that this birth of our grandson.

41

:

That he was.

42

:

Ushered in brought down escorted,

whatever you want to call it.

43

:

Dancing with our ancestors.

44

:

Because my mother and father and

Eric's mother and father loved.

45

:

To dance.

46

:

They crew up in that era of the big

band Some of my earliest memories are

47

:

dancing with my grandma In her kitchen.

48

:

And twirling.

49

:

My dad was an amazing dancer

and I was a daddy's girl.

50

:

And so I love to dance with my dad.

51

:

Even up into high school.

52

:

I remember dancing with him at

the, , high school homecomings

53

:

that he would help escort.

54

:

And then of course, at my wedding day,

my daddy dance with my father just.

55

:

Uh, great memory.

56

:

I miss him.

57

:

And Erica and I, before we got

married, we took a dancing class.

58

:

So we could waltz at our wedding

and what a beautiful memory that is.

59

:

I danced with each one of our

children when they were babes

60

:

and older, even some of them.

61

:

At high school dances.

62

:

just.

63

:

Like my father had.

64

:

And my course, my favorite is

dancing with my grandchildren.

65

:

I love whisking them around

the kitchen and twirling and

66

:

laughing down the hallway.

67

:

And dancing in the Moonlight.

68

:

Dancing.

69

:

On holidays.

70

:

dancing around the kitchen I love

to dance here in South Africa.

71

:

A lot of the children don't speak.

72

:

English and the ones

that do not very well.

73

:

And so dance has become a language.

74

:

I dance with the children

here in South Africa.

75

:

And I think.

76

:

Dancing is , a language of, celebration

a beautiful language of I love you.

77

:

So you think about these beautiful

Northern lights dancing in the sky?

78

:

And we would not be able to see them.

79

:

If it wasn't for the darkness.

80

:

It is the darkness.

81

:

That allows us to see the Milky way,

the stars, the shooting stars, the moon.

82

:

And the dancing lights I love

looking up the definition of words.

83

:

And what's really fun is to

look up the Hebrew definition.

84

:

I am not a Hebrew scholar.

85

:

Let's just make that very clear

and I might pronounce these wrong.

86

:

But in the Hebrew language, there

are two words that define darkness.

87

:

The first being chosoque.

88

:

Which is the absence of light.

89

:

This is what we think of.

90

:

In the creation.

91

:

When.

92

:

Darkness.

93

:

Came before light.

94

:

And the light was divided

into day and night.

95

:

We need both day and night.

96

:

We need light and dark for this

planet to function for us to function.

97

:

And as part of this opposition in all

things, It helps us see the contrast.

98

:

So the word.

99

:

Koshik.

100

:

Of darkness is needed.

101

:

This is the darkness that God.

102

:

Is in it is good.

103

:

Then there is a definition

of darkness that is era fail.

104

:

Which is a spiritual darkness.

105

:

This is to be separated from the glory

of God, by our words and our actions.

106

:

This is the darkness that we think of as.

107

:

Evil.

108

:

And that is the absence.

109

:

Of the light of Christ.

110

:

In doctrine, covenants 50, 24 and 25.

111

:

Is my very favorite scripture.

112

:

That which is of God is light

and he, that receives light.

113

:

And continues in God receives more light.

114

:

And that light grows brighter and

brighter and tell that perfect day.

115

:

Tap dancing celebration day.

116

:

And again, verily I say unto you.

117

:

That I say it, that you

may know this truth.

118

:

That you may chase.

119

:

Darkness from among you.

120

:

You may chase the era, fell darkness,

the spiritual darkness from among you.

121

:

So it's easy to celebrate the big things.

122

:

The birthdays, the holidays

anniversaries are big achievements.

123

:

But what about celebrating

the daily little things?

124

:

The little steps, the little wins.

125

:

Like you remember to say

your morning prayers.

126

:

Yay.

127

:

Do a happy dance.

128

:

You hug someone and told them, thank you.

129

:

Yay.

130

:

Happy dance.

131

:

You forgave someone.

132

:

Yay.

133

:

Do a happy dance.

134

:

You smiled.

135

:

You'd serve someone in need Yay.

136

:

Do a happy dance.

137

:

you repented and changed

your direction here.

138

:

Yay.

139

:

Do a happy dance.

140

:

In the 12 step program.

141

:

The first three steps.

142

:

Are sometimes referred to.

143

:

as the three step dance.

144

:

First step.

145

:

Admit that you yourself are powerless.

146

:

And that your life has become.

147

:

Unmanageable the second step, believe

that God has all power and wisdom and

148

:

in his strength, we can do all things.

149

:

And the third step.

150

:

Decide.

151

:

Choose to turn your will

and your life over to God.

152

:

And into the care of your savior.

153

:

Jesus Christ.

154

:

There you go.

155

:

1, 2, 3, like a waltz,

the three step dance.

156

:

So.

157

:

Two's to repent and change course.

158

:

One two.

159

:

Three twirl.

160

:

Jesus Christ is the light

and the life of the world.

161

:

Shine his light.

162

:

And dance.

163

:

So our little granddaughter Sage, who is.

164

:

Megan's oldest and the big sister, Of.

165

:

our new little grandson.

166

:

Megan caught her on video, sane.

167

:

I'm so glad.

168

:

Heavenly father chose him.

169

:

To be ours.

170

:

And I want to leave you with that.

171

:

I am so grateful that heavenly parents.

172

:

Chose they're only

begotten son to be ours.

173

:

So that we can dance.

174

:

And celebrate.

175

:

In the darkness.

176

:

Choosing.

177

:

To turn our steps, like a dance

step 1, 2, 3, twirl around.

178

:

. I invite you to grab hold of his hand.

179

:

Our savior and allow him to pull you

out of the darkness, into his light.

180

:

it's time.

181

:

To celebrate And dance in the light.

182

:

And I will see you on the trail.

183

:

Dancing.

184

:

And if you have enjoyed this podcast, yay.

185

:

Celebrate it and share it with a friend.

186

:

It's always better to have a friend.

187

:

to dance with.

About the Podcast

Creative Spiritual Journey
one small, deliberate step at a time
We are all on a journey—a journey home to our heavenly parents. Any experienced traveler knows there are days you laugh and days you cry.

We aren’t here to tell you how to live—we are here to share how we live—how we survive, thrive, and even find joy!

The journey gets messy with rainstorms and sleepless flights but the hard times—the miserable times—those make the best stories.

And the vistas, the sunsets, the little birds outside the window—those are the reminders that God is in the details, he is aware of us, he has trod the path before.

The Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast is hosted by Judy and Ghia Cooley—two sisters in their wisdom years—who love the savior and are dedicated to making this journey one small, deliberate step at a time.
