My Compensating Jesus

Hey it's Spring in South Africa! Time to Spring forward... but wait. not too fast. I have a question, do you ever feel like life is unfair? Are you waiting upon a miracle? or running faster than you have strength? me too! I tend to learn things the hard way. One truth I just recently learned.... ALL THAT IS UNFAIR ABOUT LIFE CAN BE MADE RIGHT THROUGH THE ATONEMENT OF JESUS CHRIST. How to apply the Compensatory power of the Saviors Atonement in the Now moment, and how to invite Him in feeling your feelings.

Transcript
Yeti X:

Sonny, Bonanni my friends.

2

:

I'm so grateful for this moment together.

3

:

If you don't know me, I'm Judy.

4

:

Also known as sister Cooley

here in the Durban, South Africa

5

:

mission for the church of Jesus

Christ of latter day saints.

6

:

I'm this week's host for the creative,

spiritual journey podcast where

7

:

Ghia and I talk about those things

that bring us joy and wonder That

8

:

we come across while navigating

this fabulous journey we call life.

9

:

It's spring here in the

Southern hemisphere.

10

:

Which means it's time to spring forward.

11

:

It's very strange because they're

getting ready for Christmas.

12

:

My mind is boggled.

13

:

I hope you listened to Ghias

last episode, falling forward.

14

:

If you haven't, Please go

back and give it a listen.

15

:

She is so wise her words enlightened

my understanding and brought answers to

16

:

questions that I think perplex all of us.

17

:

The one, what am I supposed

to be doing with my life?

18

:

I'm 60 years old and still

trying to figure this out.

19

:

I love the principle of falling

forward that she taught.

20

:

And I decided to Embrace the idea of

one step at a time is good enough today.

21

:

I don't know if you notice this,

but I skipped a week of my turn to

22

:

create an episode for this podcast.

23

:

The main reason was.

24

:

I was running faster than I had strength.

25

:

And I fell ill to a kidney infection

while still trying to push forward

26

:

and carry on with the mission work.

27

:

Tell my body demanded.

28

:

I stop.

29

:

This was a great lesson for me.

30

:

There was one night in particular

that I was wrestling with God.

31

:

I had received a priesthood

blessing for healing.

32

:

I had visited a doctor and I was

doing all the self care remedies.

33

:

That I knew, I felt I was doing

all things possible to be healed.

34

:

So why was I at midnight, really in pain.

35

:

Where was my miracle?

36

:

Didn't I have enough faith.

37

:

What more could I do?

38

:

I'm embarrassed to even say this, but I

thought heavenly father, Hey, I sacrificed

39

:

so much to be here on this mission.

40

:

Where are you?

41

:

Morning came and I was humble

enough to take antibiotics.

42

:

And stay in bed and rest giving my

body time for it to work its magic.

43

:

Could I have been healed instantly.

44

:

Sure.

45

:

I believe in the gift of healing.

46

:

But what if I would have missed

out on a greater lesson that

47

:

lesson of humbly submitting.

48

:

And the strength that I

gained in the wrestling.

49

:

And preach my gospel.

50

:

There is a chapter titled.

51

:

Study and teach the gospel.

52

:

Jesus Christ.

53

:

And this paragraph.

54

:

Jumped out at me.

55

:

Jesus took upon himself, our

pains, afflictions and infirmities.

56

:

As we rely on Jesus Christ and his

atonement, he can help us in Durer,

57

:

our trials, sicknesses and pain.

58

:

We can be filled with joy,

peace and consolation.

59

:

All that is unfair about life

can be made right through the

60

:

atonement of Jesus Christ.

61

:

Let me repeat that all that is

unfair about life can be made

62

:

right through the atonement.

63

:

Of Jesus Christ.

64

:

When we talk about the Jesus Christ.

65

:

Usually we focus on him overcoming

sin and death, which is.

66

:

So true and so miraculous.

67

:

But what about this

constellation and compensation?

68

:

How does the grace of our savior.

69

:

Do that in our day-to-day grind.

70

:

I love listening to podcast while I walk.

71

:

One of my favorites is

the leading Saint podcast.

72

:

One of the latest episode was

titled, how does the automative

73

:

Jesus Christ help those?

74

:

I lead today.

75

:

It's an interview with.

76

:

BJ Ellen.

77

:

author of the book, the compensating

power of Christ, how Jesus makes right.

78

:

The unfairness of life.

79

:

And how Christ compensates

for our weaknesses.

80

:

In this episode.

81

:

Just like Ghias falling forward.

82

:

My heart was grasped and held and I heard

the spirit whisper listen carefully.

83

:

Do you know what I mean?

84

:

When you receive those aha

moments, those answers to your

85

:

questions, personal revelation.

86

:

And you find yourself saying,

wow, that was just for me.

87

:

BJ Allen spoke of the

compensating power of Christ.

88

:

Pause to think about

the word compensating.

89

:

The definition of compensation is to

give someone something, usually money in

90

:

recognition of loss, suffering our injury.

91

:

I automatically think of Court

cases where someone's injured

92

:

and they get compensated.

93

:

Usually money.

94

:

I like the second definition.

95

:

Compensating is to counteract

something unpleasant by exerting

96

:

an opposite force or effect.

97

:

The best example of this

I could think of is when.

98

:

Christ's promises, beauty.

99

:

For ashes.

100

:

There's a lot of difficulties

and things we go through in

101

:

life where we're going to say.

102

:

That's not fair.

103

:

Why does God let bad things

happen to good people?

104

:

What about these people that we

see every day here in South Africa.

105

:

who don't have the same

opportunities as I do.

106

:

How fair is that?

107

:

Or it could be something as

small as my kidney infection.

108

:

Why wasn't I healed instantly?

109

:

What more could we have done?

110

:

Jesus Christ compensates

for all that Sunfair.

111

:

And our weaknesses in life.

112

:

The atonement of Christ is a bigger

part of our daily life than we often

113

:

think Many of us understand what

Christ does for us in the eternity.

114

:

What is he doing for us today?

115

:

And today can be really hard.

116

:

We really need Christ today.

117

:

Not only in the eternity.

118

:

I need him today when my mommy heart hurts

or it's midnight and I'm reeling in pain.

119

:

I've often thought that because of

the atonement Jesus Christ, heavenly

120

:

father will take into account the

difficulties in our life and give us a

121

:

more merciful judgment in the next life.

122

:

And we'd be compensated

for our difficulties.

123

:

But I've never really

thought about how he does it.

124

:

In the here and now.

125

:

And how he offers

compensate Tory blessings.

126

:

Now how he offers more merciful judgment.

127

:

Now how he's in the details of our lives.

128

:

Now.

129

:

We teach of Christ's atonement

and those resurrecting power.

130

:

The forgiving and the healing

power in the strengthening power.

131

:

I invite you to think

about this new application.

132

:

This was new for me,

the compensating power.

133

:

In the leading saints

interview, brother Allen said.

134

:

It beautifully quote.

135

:

The parts of our life that are

broken because of sin can be

136

:

redeemed through repentance.

137

:

And the parts that are broken that

are not our fault can be redeemed

138

:

by Christ compensating power.

139

:

I always knew that God

understood my situation.

140

:

But now I been enlightened.

141

:

I understand that he's

doing something about it.

142

:

Now.

143

:

Years ago.

144

:

I painted a painting entitled help them.

145

:

My unbelief.

146

:

It represents the story in

Matthew of the father who brings

147

:

his son to Christ to be healed.

148

:

At the demons causing him to hurt himself.

149

:

I could relate to the father who

pleads help us please heal my son.

150

:

And Christ says, all things are

possible to him that believes.

151

:

And the father's heartfelt plea.

152

:

I believe help thou.

153

:

My unbelief.

154

:

This is a beautiful example

of Christ compensating power.

155

:

The father understood that he didn't

have the face efficient that he needed.

156

:

I But like this father.

157

:

Christ.

158

:

Teaches us us that we don't

have to have perfect faith to

159

:

start exercising the faith.

160

:

That we have now.

161

:

The bigger lesson.

162

:

Is that the father was never meant To heal

his son Because Christ was always supposed

163

:

to be the source that he looked to.

164

:

We are not enough.

165

:

We were meant to need his saving grace.

166

:

That's why our weaknesses bring

us to our savior for help.

167

:

He has a Toman compensates for our lack.

168

:

Just like the disciples were never

meant to have enough food for the 5,000.

169

:

A boy and his two fish and five

loaves could never be enough.

170

:

And tell they took it to the source.

171

:

Jesus Christ.

172

:

When I heard this message, I felt as if

a heavy burden was lifted off my heart.

173

:

Christ's atonement.

174

:

Compensates for my weaknesses

of not being enough.

175

:

As a parent, as a missionary, as a wife.

176

:

And as a teacher, I can

stop the voices in my head.

177

:

If only this, if only

I would've done that.

178

:

And the idea that I was never

meant to be the savior As a mother.

179

:

it was always Jesus.

180

:

He was meant to be

their savior and father.

181

:

Uh, you mean.

182

:

I can let it go and allow

Christ compensating.

183

:

Love to take it from me.

184

:

To rely on him.

185

:

and his atonement, he can

help us endure our trials.

186

:

Sicknesses and pain.

187

:

We can be filled with joy

and peace and consolation.

188

:

All that is unfair about life

can be made right through the

189

:

atonement of Jesus Christ.

190

:

Okay, let me circle back

to my running so hard.

191

:

That my body had a take

me out of the race.

192

:

I'm a big believer in the balance

between the body, mind and spirit.

193

:

And when we bury emotions alive and

try to keep up at an exhausting pace.

194

:

It's going to start manifesting somewhere

in our body, our mind or spirit.

195

:

Have you ever heard someone

say, feel your feelings?

196

:

I'm learning that this skill.

197

:

Uh, feeling your feelings.

198

:

It's like a superpower.

199

:

It is so vital.

200

:

To our body, mind and spirit help.

201

:

I'm sure you've heard the big

buzzword of being mindful mindfulness.

202

:

Or being in the now moment, I taught

this in yoga with breath work.

203

:

This scale plays a big role in overcoming

addictions healing relationships.

204

:

Managing anger and stress.

205

:

So it's helpful to

understand that our thoughts.

206

:

Create the feelings which creates this

story that creates an action in the habit.

207

:

But did you know that feelings?

208

:

Our only vibrations in our body.

209

:

High vibrations like joy and excitement.

210

:

Or low vibrations, like

sadness and disappointment.

211

:

Feelings.

212

:

Cannot hurt us.

213

:

And less oppressed or buried alive.

214

:

Like I mentioned the Navy start

manifesting themselves in our body.

215

:

But that's why the skill is so powerful.

216

:

Yeti X-1: I want to walk you

through seven steps to practice

217

:

a skill, a feeling your feelings.

218

:

I'm going to use an example.

219

:

That I woke up with the other morning.

220

:

And gave this a try.

221

:

So.

222

:

First step.

223

:

Name it.

224

:

Give it a word.

225

:

You have to give it a name to

bring an awareness into your body.

226

:

I awoke.

227

:

With this overwhelming feeling.

228

:

And I just wanted to go home.

229

:

It seemed like it was all too much.

230

:

Yeti X: Step Too.

231

:

Find it in your body.

232

:

Where do you feel it?

233

:

Is it like.

234

:

A lump in your throat.

235

:

A pit in your stomach.

236

:

Uh, tightness in your shoulder.

237

:

Yeti X-2: My overwhelming feeling.

238

:

To me that morning felt like.

239

:

Uh, heavy magnet, if

that could make sense.

240

:

Pressing me into the bed.

241

:

It was a heaviness.

242

:

Yeti X: Step three.

243

:

Relax into it.

244

:

This is where that breath comes in.

245

:

Breathe in.

246

:

Breathe out.

247

:

Let go relax into it.

248

:

Step four, ask yourself,

what does this feel like?

249

:

Describe it.

250

:

Use adjectives.

251

:

Like I'm feeling.

252

:

A pit in my stomach, the lump in my

throat, the tightness of my shoulders.

253

:

Yeti X-3: Feeling the

weight pressing in on me.

254

:

Yeti X: And now Step . Five.

255

:

I love this one.

256

:

Picture it.

257

:

What does it look like?

258

:

Give it.

259

:

Form.

260

:

Color, maybe an object, a texture.

261

:

A rock.

262

:

Uh, cloud.

263

:

heavy load

264

:

Yeti X-4: Like.

265

:

The heavy magnet.

266

:

Pressing me into my bed.

267

:

Yeti X: Step Six.

268

:

Repeat to yourself.

269

:

This is all coming from

a sentence in my brain.

270

:

This is all coming from

a sentence in my brain.

271

:

Yeti X-5: It's a story,

just like a script.

272

:

Plain in my mind.

273

:

Yeti X: Step seven.

274

:

Allow it.

275

:

And tell it subsides.

276

:

Walk with it.

277

:

And tell your through it.

278

:

Yeti X-7: So my friend, this

is where you imagine setting it

279

:

down at the feet of your savior.

280

:

Like the father who brought us on to Jesus

Christ to be healed, cry out in prayer.

281

:

Help my unbelief.

282

:

My criticism, my fear, my disappointments.

283

:

My addictions, my angers, my child

Nish and my heartache, whatever the

284

:

emotion is, allow his compensate.

285

:

Tori love.

286

:

Let him sit with you in your sadness.

287

:

Show him your broken mommy heart.

288

:

And he will walk you through it.

289

:

Beauty for ashes.

290

:

Yeti X: I've always loved that song.

291

:

If you're going through

hell, keep on going.

292

:

This comes from Winston Churchill's to

the people in England during world war II.

293

:

In essence, don't give up.

294

:

You'll eventually get

through to the other side.

295

:

Same with feeling your feelings.

296

:

You'll survive.

297

:

Uh, feeling camp kill you.

298

:

In the book, you can heal

your life by Louisa Hayes.

299

:

She has this chart.

300

:

I like to refer to when my body's

experiencing sickness to see the possible.

301

:

In balance.

302

:

Maybe taking place, for example, the

problem being at kidney infection.

303

:

The probable cause.

304

:

Is listed as criticism.

305

:

Check disappointment.

306

:

CEC failure, check and reacting like

a little child check, check, check.

307

:

So the new thought pattern to apply.

308

:

Divine.

309

:

Action is taking place in my life.

310

:

Doesn't that sound like the

compensating power of the Jesus Christ.

311

:

Only good comes from each experience.

312

:

It is safe to grow up.

313

:

My invitation to you.

314

:

My friends is ask yourself.

315

:

What's going on in your heart,

your mind, or your body.

316

:

What's causing the imbalance.

317

:

What hell are you walking through?

318

:

What keeps you up at night,

weighing on your heart.

319

:

Then act, do two things.

320

:

First prayerfully, ask how you can

call upon the compensating power

321

:

of the atonement of Jesus Christ.

322

:

To rely on him To compensate for all.

323

:

Things that seem unfair

right now in your life.

324

:

And second.

325

:

I walk through the fire.

326

:

Go through the seven steps

to feel your feelings.

327

:

I

328

:

name it.

329

:

Find it in your body.

330

:

Relax into it.

331

:

Ask yourself, what it feels like.

332

:

Picture it.

333

:

Put a substance to it.

334

:

Repeat to yourself.

335

:

This is all coming.

336

:

Coming from a sentence in my brain.

337

:

And then allow it.

338

:

Walk with it and tell it subsides.

339

:

Thank you.

340

:

My friends.

341

:

G, and I know.

342

:

How precious your time is, and you have

so many choices of things to listen to.

343

:

And we would appreciate

it if you know, someone.

344

:

That's walking through Hale

and their journey right now.

345

:

To share this message with them.

346

:

Or Ghias message of falling forward.

347

:

And.

348

:

Don't run faster than you have strength.

349

:

And trust and rely upon your

savior for he is your source.

350

:

Your source of strength

and healing and joy.

351

:

And I say these things in his name.

352

:

Jesus Christ and I will

see you on the trail.

About the Podcast

Creative Spiritual Journey
one small, deliberate step at a time
We are all on a journey—a journey home to our heavenly parents. Any experienced traveler knows there are days you laugh and days you cry.

We aren’t here to tell you how to live—we are here to share how we live—how we survive, thrive, and even find joy!

The journey gets messy with rainstorms and sleepless flights but the hard times—the miserable times—those make the best stories.

And the vistas, the sunsets, the little birds outside the window—those are the reminders that God is in the details, he is aware of us, he has trod the path before.

The Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast is hosted by Judy and Ghia Cooley—two sisters in their wisdom years—who love the savior and are dedicated to making this journey one small, deliberate step at a time.
