Speaker:

So Bonani Franz, welcome to the

Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast.

2

:

Life is calling you each day, calling

you to step out your front door.

3

:

Be brave and onto the path that

leads through wildernesses beyond

4

:

the horizon to stand on mountaintops.

5

:

I am Judy.

6

:

Thanks for joining me on the Trail

for just a brief moment where I'd

7

:

like to share what's in my heart,

my love for the savior and his.

8

:

Beautiful creation and

all the world around us.

9

:

Today's episode is number 79.

10

:

It's also day 624 of our mission here

in South Africa for the Church of

11

:

Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

12

:

It's also September Equinox.

13

:

I hope you listened in on Gaia's an

Equinox celebration of Jesus Christ,

14

:

where she invites us to ponder.

15

:

How are we going to celebrate the Equinox?

16

:

It's probably not a holiday you're

used to celebrating, not me, but

17

:

Gee has chosen to go to the top

of a mountain and shout Hosanna.

18

:

And if you noticed, she cleverly

invited me to create a Hosanna

19

:

meditation and Gia, I gladly accept it.

20

:

So today's episode, I'm gonna set

the stage for a meditation and I'm

21

:

Begin with sharing with you some

lessons I've learned on mountaintops.

22

:

I'll try to keep it simple, but,

oh, I have so much to say about

23

:

mountaintops and temples because some

of my favorite places in the whole

24

:

world are mountaintops and temples.

25

:

Life on top of a mountain is

not easy, and getting to a top

26

:

of the mountain is not easy.

27

:

It takes effort, a lot of effort to get

to the very tip top of a mountain to stand

28

:

where not very many people have stood.

29

:

And to see views that not very

many people ever get to see.

30

:

And the same goes with temples.

31

:

The effort that it takes

to stand in a temple.

32

:

On my camera, I have lots of beautiful

pictures of views from the tip tops of

33

:

mountains, the flowers and the rocks

But my favorite ones are with me and

34

:

Eric and a friend or family member,

whoever it is that we've climbed to

35

:

the top of the mountain with, with our

fist in the air and we're shouting.

36

:

Hurrah.

37

:

Woo hoo.

38

:

We made it.

39

:

We made it to the top.

40

:

I have the feeling that when we end this

mission here in South Africa, it will be a

41

:

lot like somebody the top of the mountain.

42

:

'cause it's taken a lot of

effort, a lot of work to arrive.

43

:

But I also know, oh, it's gonna be

filled with heartbreak to say goodbye

44

:

and to return home, it will be hard.

45

:

I wanna share with you a

scripture found in Isaiah too.

46

:

Verse three, come let us go up to the

mountain of the Lord, to the house

47

:

of God, and he will teach us of his

ways and we will walk in his paths.

48

:

That is what we're gonna do

in this meditation today.

49

:

We're gonna sit like a mountain

and there dedicate our hearts.

50

:

Much like a temple is dedicated

to holiness to the Lord.

51

:

So why temples?

52

:

Temples are literally the house of

the Lord here on earth, a holy place

53

:

set apart from the rest of the world.

54

:

In the temple we go to receive

more light and knowledge.

55

:

To me, mountaintops and temples

are witnesses of God's love for us.

56

:

Our prophet Russell M.

57

:

Nelson said Every temple is a

beacon of light to the world.

58

:

As we dedicate temples, the darkness

of the world is pushed back and

59

:

the light of the gospel increases.

60

:

I would say the same happens to us as we.

61

:

Dedicate this temple, our body, our

hearts, and our minds to the Lord.

62

:

The darkness is pushed back

and light is increased.

63

:

That's exactly what we're

gonna go for in this equinox.

64

:

Hosanna meditation is to expand light.

65

:

Chase away.

66

:

Darkness.

67

:

Dedicate our hearts to the Lord.

68

:

Now, life is a series of mountaintops,

is I think the word hosanna is so fitting

69

:

to sing or shout at the mountaintop

because as GI taught us, the Hebrew

70

:

definition the word hosanna is.

71

:

Save us please Now on this mission,

this hike to the top of this big

72

:

mountain, this past 625 days.

73

:

Believe me, there have been

a lot of Please for help.

74

:

But there's also been the other

definition of Hosanna, the

75

:

exclamation of praise and joy.

76

:

That too, I have experienced,

I've seen the hand of the Lord

77

:

the more we dedicate our hearts to

him, the more I see the strength.

78

:

The grace, the miracles.

79

:

I want you to think about a mountain that

you have just conquered or that you're on

80

:

right now, within the last, let's say six

months where have you been on the trail?

81

:

Have you stood on the mountain

or are you still in the

82

:

process of making the journey?

83

:

And your Hosanna shout is

a plead for help, please.

84

:

Or as it that you've overcome,

those obstacles, and you've stood

85

:

on a mountaintop and with ex

explanations of praise and joy.

86

:

Hosanna.

87

:

Hosanna to God and the Lamb.

88

:

You do not journey alone.

89

:

You do not make journeys

to mountaintops alone.

90

:

Nope.

91

:

We have each other to lift and we

have our savior who has marked the

92

:

path and who has won the victory,

has stood on top overcoming sin and

93

:

Satan and death, and because of him.

94

:

We too can shout Hosanna.

95

:

To begin this meditation, we're

gonna sit like a mountaintop.

96

:

I find it best to sit on a pillow, so my

hips are a little higher than my knees.

97

:

This not only gives me comfort in

my hips, but support in my back.

98

:

'cause we're gonna sit like a mountain,

which means to take our spine tall,

99

:

stack our vertebraes like coins,

and reach the crown of our head to

100

:

the heavens, like a mountaintop.

101

:

And then we're gonna allow the

breath to rest in our body.

102

:

So our body is going to

feel heavy like a mountain.

103

:

Not heavy in the negative sense of

depression or weight of the world,

104

:

but heavy and being present, being

grounded, being like the rock steady.

105

:

And have you ever had those moments

where you're so relaxed, it's

106

:

impossible to move that kind of heavy.

107

:

So as we sit like the mountain

108

:

and breathe in,

109

:

go present into your body,

finding that heaviness, that rest.

110

:

Being one if you would with a mountain,

111

:

sensing it in your body.

112

:

Feeling

113

:

solid.

114

:

Maybe even majestic.

115

:

And if we are to look back over

this climb this daily step by

116

:

step to the top of the mountain.

117

:

We're gonna recognize the need for

dedicating our heart just like a temple,

118

:

taking our heart Upon that altar, I

119

:

receiving light.

120

:

Receiving knowledge, wisdom.

121

:

That's what we gain along the way of

the climb and we recognize the hand

122

:

of the Lord guiding us, strengthening

us, helping us along the way.

123

:

And as we dedicate this temple, our body

124

:

to holiness, to the Lord,

125

:

a house of the Lord,

126

:

a place where he is light

and his love resides abides.

127

:

And we come before this altar

128

:

and this reverence of

holiness dedicating our heart.

129

:

And as you breathe in, we feel

that light enter into this temple.

130

:

It's a bright and a

warm and a healing light

131

:

that saves

132

:

Hosanna,

133

:

if you can just breathe

in the word hosanna.

134

:

Breathe out, chasing away the darkness.

135

:

Hosanna

136

:

hosanna to God and the lamb.

137

:

He knows your journey.

138

:

He knows where you are on the mountain.

139

:

He's been there

140

:

and he has been sent to find you

141

:

sent to lift you.

142

:

Breathe it in light.

143

:

Praise, joy.

144

:

Recognizing the grace and the

strength that you have received.

145

:

You've made it to the top.

146

:

Hosanna.

147

:

Now.

148

:

As we sit here in this

sacred space, a mountaintop

149

:

dedicating our hearts, our minds, our

whole souls to holiness unto the Lord.

150

:

Open your heart.

151

:

Allow this space, this beautiful

temple that is divine your body.

152

:

Just let it feel with his light.

153

:

I hope you feel a sense of rejoicing.

154

:

Maybe even bring a smile to your face.

155

:

You can place your hands on your heart

156

:

as we offer this heart.

157

:

Might mind and strength all of it

158

:

to holiness to the Lord.

159

:

His light dwells here in this house.

160

:

This is a space where you

can come to converse with the

161

:

Lord to receive further light,

162

:

further strength.

163

:

Further knowledge, answers, guidance.

164

:

You are never alone on this journey.

165

:

Breathing in, Hosanna,

166

:

exhaling, chasing away the darkness.

167

:

It cannot dwell here.

168

:

Breathing in, Hosanna,

169

:

sit tall like a mountain full of light,

shining brightly out to the world.

170

:

Hosanna to God and the Lamb.

171

:

Amen And amen.

172

:

I will see you again,

my friends on the trail.

About the Podcast

Creative Spiritual Journey
one small, deliberate step at a time
We are all on a journey—a journey home to our heavenly parents. Any experienced traveler knows there are days you laugh and days you cry.

We aren’t here to tell you how to live—we are here to share how we live—how we survive, thrive, and even find joy!

The journey gets messy with rainstorms and sleepless flights but the hard times—the miserable times—those make the best stories.

And the vistas, the sunsets, the little birds outside the window—those are the reminders that God is in the details, he is aware of us, he has trod the path before.

The Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast is hosted by Judy and Ghia Cooley—two sisters in their wisdom years—who love the savior and are dedicated to making this journey one small, deliberate step at a time.
