Happy Women's Day!

This August 9 I'm celebrating Women's Day with my South African Sisters! Which turns out to be a fulfillment of a blessing given to me by a patriarch 47 years ago.

Do you ever get stuck in thinking your reflection in the mirror is your value? Me too... but I know our Heavenly Father sees us differently, as His strong and beautiful daughters.

Yeti X-2: Sonny bone Yani, my friends,

I Judy, thanks for joining me.

2

:

I, this week's hosts for the

creative spiritual journey podcast.

3

:

Where Ghia.

4

:

And I talk about things of our heart.

5

:

We talk about Christ and things in nature.

6

:

And all the joys that we discover along

this remarkable journey we call life.

7

:

Thanks for joining me on the trail today.

8

:

Oh, how I wish we were actually

walking and talking together.

9

:

On the mountain.

10

:

So.

11

:

Let me tell you what's happening

this Friday, August 9th.

12

:

2024.

13

:

It is women's day in South Africa and

I get to celebrate it with my sisters.

14

:

In Zion, the relief society, sisters here.

15

:

In the new castle district.

16

:

But what is even more.

17

:

Special to me.

18

:

Is that.

19

:

Friday.

20

:

August 9th It will be a fulfillment of.

21

:

my patriarchal blessing.

22

:

Let me read that says.

23

:

That I will have the blessing

to enjoy the association with

24

:

the sisters of the gospel.

25

:

As you associate with them,

your life will be strengthened.

26

:

And you will understand

the values of motherhood.

27

:

And womanhood.

28

:

The word value.

29

:

. Value is defined as a valor.

30

:

And to be of worth.

31

:

Rendered useful.

32

:

is a price or importance.

33

:

The appraisal of.

34

:

The worth of a soul.

35

:

No.

36

:

I love that as the definition,

the worth of the sole.

37

:

Cause I think of.

38

:

The scriptures and the savior

saying that the worth of the

39

:

soul is great in the eyes of God.

40

:

Yeti X-4: I remember back in our young

women days, we had personal progress.

41

:

And we had the young woman values.

42

:

We are daughters ever heavenly

parents who love us and we love them.

43

:

We will stand as witnesses of Christ in

all times in all things in all places.

44

:

As we strive to live,

the young woman values.

45

:

And then it lists the values, faith.

46

:

Knowledge, divine nature,

individual worth integrity.

47

:

Good works, accountability and virtue.

48

:

Yeti X-6: Those are each awesome.

49

:

Values.

50

:

That we.

51

:

Could each take into our hearts

and our life to be more Christ.

52

:

Like don't you think.

53

:

I remember it ended with.

54

:

We believe as we come to accept

and act upon these values.

55

:

We will be prepared to strengthen home

and family make and keep sacred covenants

56

:

and receive the blessings of exaltation.

57

:

Uh, Do you remember

those young women days?

58

:

And trying to find.

59

:

You're worth.

60

:

Yeti X-2: I love the word.

61

:

Associate.

62

:

Yeti X-3: the word to associate

63

:

is to join with a common purpose.

64

:

To connect with someone to be one mind.

65

:

What does that remind you of.

66

:

To be one mind.

67

:

One heart.

68

:

As sister in Zion.

69

:

I don't know if you know

this, the release society is.

70

:

The oldest and the largest women

organization in the world over 7

71

:

million women in 188 countries.

72

:

I mean that is power.

73

:

My sisters.

74

:

It is fabulous.

75

:

So this blessing that I will

have opportunity to associate

76

:

with my sisters in the gospel.

77

:

And that I will come to understand.

78

:

The importance and The value of womanhood.

79

:

Yeti X-11: Like I said this Friday

is women's day in South Africa.

80

:

this day commemorates.

81

:

Yeti X-17: a women's March that

took place on August night in

82

:

1956 in Pretoria, South Africa.

83

:

The marchers aim.

84

:

Or to Protest the introduction of an

apartheid pass laws for the black women.

85

:

Okay.

86

:

They showed up On the steps

of, The union building.

87

:

And presented a petition

to the prime minister.

88

:

So what this past law was,

that the only people who

89

:

Yeti X-19: could find work

90

:

Yeti X-17: We're given a pass.

91

:

This allowed the government to control

the influx of black man into the cities.

92

:

The past was one of the most

hated of the apartheid laws.

93

:

Man, we were repeatedly

arrested under this law So.

94

:

These women.

95

:

weren't going to.

96

:

stand there and take it.

97

:

So

98

:

Yeti X-5: There was 20,000.

99

:

Courageous.

100

:

Women.

101

:

That joined forces that day.

102

:

There was a moment when they

spent a half hour in silence.

103

:

And then they sang a song.

104

:

you strike the women.

105

:

You strike the rock.

106

:

That is powerful.

107

:

Isn't it such strong

women in South Africa?

108

:

it's going to be a pleasure to

join with them on women's day.

109

:

With my release society, sisters.

110

:

And celebrate the strength of women.

111

:

When I think of this strength of women,

112

:

Yeti X-15: I think of course

of the women of my life.

113

:

My grandmother, My mom.

114

:

I think of my daughters.

115

:

and my daughters in laws.

116

:

I love them.

117

:

They are such examples of strength to me.

118

:

I look at their lives and how do they.

119

:

Manage and they do it with such grace

and my granddaughters are Treasures.

120

:

They're just precious.

121

:

and my sisters.

122

:

and my sisters.

123

:

in laws.

124

:

Who are also my friends.

125

:

And my aunts

126

:

And my Niece's and cousins

127

:

Yeti X-16: And of course my

best friends and my peeps.

128

:

Yeti X-15: I've just been surrounded.

129

:

I've had such a blessing of.

130

:

Women of God to strong women.

131

:

That have guided and walked

with me through life.

132

:

Yeti X-21: Happy women's day..

133

:

Yeti X-20: To the women.

134

:

That shaped and sculpted Michaeline.

135

:

Yeti X-5: In a worldwide release

ociety, devotional and March,:

136

:

Our prophet president Nelson.

137

:

Blessed us with.

138

:

A blessing.

139

:

That is for all women.

140

:

And I'm going to read that to you

because for me it is very significant.

141

:

I bless you with increased

spiritual discernment.

142

:

And the ability to find joy

in offering relief to others.

143

:

I bless you with the wisdom to

discern what is needful and to

144

:

not run faster than you're able.

145

:

I bless you with the courage to

live up to your divine privileges.

146

:

As a covenant daughter of God.

147

:

I bless you to feel deeply.

148

:

That heavenly father in his son.

149

:

Jesus Christ.

150

:

No, you.

151

:

And love you.

152

:

I myself.

153

:

I am certain I can testify

of this, that this is true.

154

:

And he continues on.

155

:

They sent you to earth now, and I'm going

to include for my south African sisters.

156

:

Here now, and here.

157

:

Because you are vital to

the kingdom of God now.

158

:

And here.

159

:

I bless you to realize that

your divine gifts as daughters

160

:

of God give you the power.

161

:

Not only to change lives,

but to change the world.

162

:

I know that kind of sounds

like a big, tall order to feel.

163

:

But it begins.

164

:

One day at a time, one heart at a time.

165

:

One decision.

166

:

Of.

167

:

Recognizing your value.

168

:

As a woman.

169

:

That is your promise from a profit.

170

:

I've told you how much I.

171

:

treasure my patriarchal blessing.

172

:

Not everyone here.

173

:

has the patriarchal blessing.

174

:

In fact, there is a waiting list of about.

175

:

65 people.

176

:

And our area.

177

:

Because we are not award

and we're not a steak.

178

:

We do not have a patriarch.

179

:

And so we have to go to

Durban, which is expensive.

180

:

A lot of times they combine it

with the temple trips And the

181

:

patriarch's only able to do.

182

:

To a day.

183

:

members here.

184

:

have a great desire for

a patriarchal blessing.

185

:

It makes me think of the time when Emma.

186

:

The days leading up to Joseph's death.

187

:

I'm sure she wasn't under a lot of.

188

:

stress and strain.

189

:

Because of the persecution

going on, she sought a blessing.

190

:

For her from her husband.

191

:

But because he wasn't able to

fulfill her request, he instructed

192

:

her to write her own blessing.

193

:

and then he said that he would

sign it when he returned.

194

:

But he never had that opportunity.

195

:

The blessing she wrote is so beautiful.

196

:

Let me read what ammo wrote.

197

:

First of all, I would crave as the richest

of heaven's blessings would be wisdom.

198

:

From my heavenly father bestowed daily.

199

:

So that whatever I might do or say,

I could not look back at the close

200

:

of the day with regret nor neglect.

201

:

The performance of any act

that would bring a blessing.

202

:

I desire the spirit of God to

know and understand myself.

203

:

That a desire, a fruitful, active mind.

204

:

That I may be able to

comprehend the designs of God.

205

:

When revealed to the

servants without doubting.

206

:

I desire a spirit of discernment.

207

:

Which is one of the promised

blessings of the holy ghost.

208

:

I particularly desire wisdom.

209

:

To bring up all the children that are,

are, may be committed to my charge.

210

:

In such a manner that they will be

useful ornaments in the kingdom of God.

211

:

And in a coming day, rise

up and call me blessed.

212

:

I desire prudence.

213

:

That I may not through ambition

abuse my body and cause it to

214

:

become prematurely old are careworn.

215

:

I love this part.

216

:

But that I may wear a

cheerful countenance.

217

:

And live to perform all the work that I

covenanted to perform in the spirit world.

218

:

To be a blessing to all who may

in any wise need OD at my hand.

219

:

I desire with all my heart to

honor and respect my husband.

220

:

Ever to live in his confidence and by

acting in unison with him, retain the

221

:

place, which God has given me by his side.

222

:

Finally.

223

:

I desire that whatever may

be my lot through this life.

224

:

I may be enabled to

acknowledge the hand of God.

225

:

And all things.

226

:

Isn't that sweet.

227

:

My sisters, I invite

you on this women's day.

228

:

Too.

229

:

Take time.

230

:

Reflect upon your infinite value.

231

:

and divine mission that we

should strive to fulfill.

232

:

So my invitation.

233

:

Take time.

234

:

Too, right.

235

:

A blessing.

236

:

The desires of your heart,

like Emma did Write it down.

237

:

what blessings do you want?

238

:

Recognize why you were sent here and now.

239

:

And what is your vital part

of building up his kingdom?

240

:

Take time to write this down.

241

:

And I promise you that the holy ghost.

242

:

All bare.

243

:

Witness to your heart.

244

:

Of your worth.

245

:

Of the love that your father

and heaven has for you.

246

:

And of your divine nature.

247

:

And your infinite worth in their eyes.

248

:

Yeti X-10: Okay.

249

:

My sisters, let's not get caught

up into thinking our value.

250

:

Is what we were seeing, reflecting

back to us in the mirror.

251

:

I promise you.

252

:

We are so much more.

253

:

Yeti X-7: If you can join with

some sisters, so have great.

254

:

The strength we have together.

255

:

The association.

256

:

That brings us.

257

:

One mind, one purpose, one heart.

258

:

Sisters in Zion.

259

:

Yeti X-5: happy woman's day.

260

:

My sisters.

261

:

I love you in gear.

262

:

and I'll see you on the trail.

About the Podcast

Creative Spiritual Journey
one small, deliberate step at a time
We are all on a journey—a journey home to our heavenly parents. Any experienced traveler knows there are days you laugh and days you cry.

We aren’t here to tell you how to live—we are here to share how we live—how we survive, thrive, and even find joy!

The journey gets messy with rainstorms and sleepless flights but the hard times—the miserable times—those make the best stories.

And the vistas, the sunsets, the little birds outside the window—those are the reminders that God is in the details, he is aware of us, he has trod the path before.

The Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast is hosted by Judy and Ghia Cooley—two sisters in their wisdom years—who love the savior and are dedicated to making this journey one small, deliberate step at a time.
