Speaker:

Sonny Bonani, welcome to the

Creative Spiritual Journey.

2

:

I am Judy, and if you listen to our.

3

:

Last episode of the Creative

Spiritual Journey podcast, I mentioned

4

:

that I would attach a meditation.

5

:

This is weight or wings meditation.

6

:

In the last episode, I began

with asking you a question.

7

:

What is weighing on your mind?

8

:

What burdens are you carrying your heart?

9

:

We're gonna take this weight.

10

:

That we are carrying and

we're gonna exchange it to

11

:

something as beautiful as wings.

12

:

I also shared with you a

beautiful quote from American

13

:

pastor named Harry Emerson, ick.

14

:

Real Christians do not

carry their religion.

15

:

Their religion carries them.

16

:

It's not weight, it's wings.

17

:

It lifts them up.

18

:

It sees them over hard places.

19

:

It makes the universe seem

friendly, life, purposeful hope,

20

:

real sacrifice, worthwhile.

21

:

It sets them free from fear,

futility, discouragement, and sin.

22

:

Did you know the Lord invites

us to cast our burdens upon him

23

:

and He will help us carry them.

24

:

We do have things in this mortal journey

that we are to carry Our stewardship,

25

:

our relationships, our family, our faith.

26

:

But what if those things like our

marriage, our families, our religion,

27

:

we don't carry them, but they carry us.

28

:

It's not a weight, it's wings.

29

:

What if we learn to come unto

our God with our heavy burdens?

30

:

And give it unto him.

31

:

'cause in Matthew 1128, it says,

come unto me all you that labor

32

:

and are heavy laden and I will

give you rest, rest, wings, ease.

33

:

Okay?

34

:

So if you're new to meditation, a guided

meditation, We're going to think of a

35

:

situation just recently, um, that you've

gone through that felt a little heavy.

36

:

It felt like a burden upon your back or

heavy in your heart or your mind, and

37

:

we're going to bring it into a savior and

take away his grace, his strength, and.

38

:

Take off with wings.

39

:

Now remember my disclaimer

in the last episode.

40

:

I am just a podcast host.

41

:

I am just a senior missionary, a wife,

a mother, a grandma, and a friend.

42

:

But I've also had years of coaching

people through meditations.

43

:

So as you choose this situation,

this memory Please pick the little

44

:

T's, not the capital T, trauma.

45

:

If there's something traumatic, I

encourage you to work with a trauma

46

:

trained professional because there's

a different protocol for working

47

:

through trauma that I'll be doing here.

48

:

So I invite you again to get comfortable.

49

:

You wanna be able to be relaxed

and uninterrupted, and we're gonna

50

:

be breathing the UJA breath, which

is the yoga breath in through

51

:

the nose and down into the belly.

52

:

And this breath, what it does is

it calms our nervous system, slows

53

:

down our brain waves, and this is

where the magic can truly happen.

54

:

begin breathing in

55

:

Nice deep breath.

56

:

Let your body just relax into this space.

57

:

Breathe in light.

58

:

Exhale, chase out the darkness.

59

:

We're creating a safe space here

60

:

and bring to mind this recent experience,

this thought, this load, this burden.

61

:

And don't worry about calling

up the perfect experience.

62

:

Whatever comes to mind will be just fine

63

:

as we do this.

64

:

Remember that a loving God stands there.

65

:

He is willing.

66

:

He is waiting to heal.

67

:

And to carry and to take that

burden, whatever you are willing

68

:

to yield to him and the promises,

rest and wings and strength,

69

:

we're gonna take this experience,

this humanness of being mortal and

70

:

alchemize it into something beautiful.

71

:

So if you would.

72

:

Stay with the breath.

73

:

Notice where you are

sensing this in your body.

74

:

Notice it, the chatter in your mind.

75

:

How about the next breath we take in?

76

:

We hush the chatter in the mind

77

:

and.

78

:

Bring a peace and a calm to our mind.

79

:

Exhale and take the

weight off your shoulders.

80

:

Set down those useless cares.

81

:

That burden that you were not

meant to carry, that somehow we've

82

:

just picked up along the way.

83

:

Open your hands.

84

:

Open your heart.

85

:

Open your mind

86

:

and let that breath and that light

and that grace pour into you.

87

:

Exhale and let go.

88

:

Moving in to your body,

noticing the sensations.

89

:

Resting in this safe

space, breathing in light,

90

:

exhale and releasing load

91

:

call to mind.

92

:

This seen.

93

:

The details,

94

:

the colors, the sounds,

95

:

who are you with, where are you?

96

:

If it's too much to recreate in your

mind, water it down a little bit.

97

:

I just want to notice, as we recall

this thought, this memory, this

98

:

experience where it shows up in our body

99

:

so we can breathe some light,

100

:

breathe some healing

light into that space.

101

:

And then without judgment and

without creating a story, ask

102

:

yourself, why does this feel heavy?

103

:

Just be curious.

104

:

Observe

105

:

if you find the chatter picks

up again in your mind of why me?

106

:

This shouldn't happen.

107

:

Why did they do this?

108

:

Set that aside.

109

:

Those are those useless cares

that you picked up before.

110

:

Keep that pack of heavy

load on the ground.

111

:

You've set it down.

112

:

As you breathe in light, exhale,

you find you begin feeling lighter.

113

:

There's a buoyancy to your heart.

114

:

Stay with the breath, paying

attention to your body.

115

:

Let's go even a little deeper

116

:

breathing in light down into the

very center of your core, your soul.

117

:

opens up and all the cells in our

body open up and we allow when we

118

:

welcome this light to pour into us.

119

:

A golden healing light, alchemizing

giving us strength to our

120

:

shoulders and our marrow in our

bones and our spine, our legs.

121

:

Feel the ease of the burdens lift.

122

:

Feel the strength.

123

:

Pour in

124

:

and let your legs, your arms.

125

:

And especially your mind rests here,

126

:

rest from the journey.

127

:

Taking time to just

accept and allow what is.

128

:

Come unto me all ye at labor and our

heavy laden and I will give you rest.

129

:

Cast,

130

:

cast hear burdens at his feet.

131

:

And if you would imagine being

embraced, embraced in the arms

132

:

of a loving God, a savior,

133

:

And if you would go with me to a

sacred place, the Garden of Gethsemane.

134

:

There.

135

:

Jesus Christ in prayer pleading Father,

if that will take this cup from me.

136

:

Nevertheless, not my will.

137

:

But thy will be done

138

:

now in our own personal way.

139

:

We too are gonna echo these words.

140

:

Father, if thou will take this

load from me, nevertheless, not

141

:

my will, but thy will be done.

142

:

Yielding it all to him,

143

:

yielding, casting, setting

down, bringing it to him,

144

:

and then being willing to

145

:

Whatever it is his will for us to carry.

146

:

be willing to carry off

and on whatever load

147

:

you are meant to carry through this life.

148

:

With a willing heart,

149

:

with a cheerful heart,

150

:

a faithful heart,

151

:

and to be able to stand,

152

:

stand with his grace, his strength.

153

:

That will help you bear

up your burdens with ease.

154

:

Say yes, I'm willing

155

:

by will, not my will.

156

:

And I want you to look

around in your mind's eye

157

:

to your fellow travelers.

158

:

Their loads that they are under

159

:

and judge not,

160

:

but have compassion upon them.

161

:

Let's breathe in

162

:

some compassion, to sucker the weak.

163

:

Lift up the hands, which hang down,

and to strengthen the feeble knees of

164

:

our fellow travelers, our loved ones.

165

:

We all carry loads

166

:

and we are meant to in this mortal life.

167

:

There's opposition in all things, and

we are meant to learn from our own load.

168

:

You're doing beautifully.

169

:

Just stay with the breath.

170

:

I am willing to yield, I am

willing to carry thy will.

171

:

Now, if you would, let's just

gently roll over onto your side.

172

:

If you're laying down into fetal

position, if you're not laying down

173

:

and you're seated, just hug your

knees in or wrap your arms around

174

:

yourself in a nice, warm hug.

175

:

There is an infinite light, a divine

light that's within each one of us,

176

:

and is bright and it is beautiful,

and it is of infinite worth.

177

:

Why don't we remember that today?

178

:

A lot of the burdens that we carry on our

mind are lies told to us by the adversary.

179

:

Let's not believe them.

180

:

Let's believe of our infinite

worth, our love, our strength.

181

:

Remember that who it is that

helps you carry those burdens.

182

:

who it is that walks with

you You are never alone.

183

:

And like any meditative

prayer, when you're ready and

184

:

in the name of Jesus Christ.

185

:

And I will see you on the trail.

About the Podcast

Creative Spiritual Journey
one small, deliberate step at a time
We are all on a journey—a journey home to our heavenly parents. Any experienced traveler knows there are days you laugh and days you cry.

We aren’t here to tell you how to live—we are here to share how we live—how we survive, thrive, and even find joy!

The journey gets messy with rainstorms and sleepless flights but the hard times—the miserable times—those make the best stories.

And the vistas, the sunsets, the little birds outside the window—those are the reminders that God is in the details, he is aware of us, he has trod the path before.

The Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast is hosted by Judy and Ghia Cooley—two sisters in their wisdom years—who love the savior and are dedicated to making this journey one small, deliberate step at a time.
